Mountain bike introductory guides, those intriguing classifications

Mountain bike is familiar and unfamiliar to many riders. The first car that many riders get into the pit is mountain bike. What is unfamiliar is that many riders do not have a deep understanding of mountain bike. What is DH? What is soft tail?

The earliest definition of mountain bike is relatively simple, that is, the bicycle used on mountain road is generally divided into two types: hard tail (with front fork, no rear shock) and soft tail (i.e. full shock absorber, with front and rear shock absorber). Later, with the increasingly rich play of mountain bikes and the increasing demand of people, many models were subdivided.

1. XC (Cross Country)

This is the basic type of mountain bike. It has general cross-country ability and is good at climbing hills. It is suitable for suburbs, rolling roads and mountain paths. XC models include simple hard-tail and small-stroke soft-tail. It has simple structure and low entry threshold. It is suitable for small white mountain bike users. In addition, the price of XC model is relatively close to the people, so it is also the preferred model for many small white users to contact sports bicycles.

2. Trail (Lindao Mountain Bike)

The forest road car can be regarded as an advanced XC model, with short-range full shock absorber structure, suitable for forest and mountainous road surface, and has certain requirements for riding skills. Many amateur players will choose the forest road bike. On the one hand, they can experience the pleasure of mountain bike conquering obstacles, on the other hand, the hand difficulty is relatively moderate.

3. AM (All Mountain)

AM vehicle has a longer shock-proof journey than forest road vehicle, and can be applied to more rugged road conditions such as mountainous technical road through a larger drop. Compared with other mountain bikes, AM can not only climb steep slopes, but also carry out difficult downhill. Its comprehensive performance is excellent, and it can meet the requirements of most mountain bike players. However, to master certain AM riding skills, more skills and experience are needed.

Enduro is a very popular mountain bike race in recent years. It emphasizes the combination of physical strength and cycling skills, and has a long race distance. It is also called endurance race in mountain bikes. The Enduro track is mostly downhill and contains many small flybags and sharp bends, so the Enduro model is similar to the AM model as a whole. At present, there is no consensus on the relationship between AM and Enduro, but Enduro has exclusive UCI events and major manufacturers have introduced Enduro models, so here is a special introduction.

5. FR (Free Ride)

FR means free riding. Typical ways of playing include big drop, difficult skills and so on. FR is the strongest and most exciting mountain bike race. The famous one is Red Bull Mountain Drop Race. FR seeks to challenge downhills and obstacles, to pursue difficult routes and actions, and to build sites that require manual construction is possible to ensure safety. FR models all have super-long-range shock absorber systems, which are roughly the same as the DH models described below.

6. DH (Down Hill, Down Hill)

DH play can be said to be the heaviest taste of mountain bike play, including steep slopes, jumps and sprints and other elements, the requirements of vehicles and skills are very high. DH car head tube angle is small and has a long shock-absorbing journey. There are also various unique rear shock-absorbing systems designed to enable drivers to maintain good maneuverability in high-speed downhill. Frame, front fork and brake components are specially designed for high-speed descent and road impact. DH models belong to the niche market, but there are also many car users who use DH models in FR.
